Oh, unexpected usefulness of the useless! Charity of great things! Bounty of giants! 고백

1. 나는 문제의식이 없다. 이는 “어떠한 조건하에서도 인간은 평등하다”와 “모든 문제는 너의 마음에서 비롯된다”는 당치않은 말들을 어렸을적부터 맹신하도록 들어온 탓이며, 그 이야기가 맞고 틀림을 떠나서, 그 생각을 그대로 지키고픈 나의 무의식이 나를 32년 이끌어 왔기 때문이다.

2. 세상은 이야기들로 이루어져있다. 아니 우리는 모두 하나의 긴 이야기 속, 움직임들에 불과하다. (당신은 성경속의 등장인물) 따라서 이야기속 사람들이 하는 일에는 귀하고 천함이 없으며, 단지 다양한 캐릭터들 속에 흥미로운 이야기와 지루한 이야기가 있을 뿐이다. 흥미로운 이야기란 대개 낯선 것들인데, 이 낯선 것들은 크게 새로운 것들과, 피할 수 없는 기억의 문제들을 다루는 것으로 나뉜다. 그렇다면 여기서  이야기란 무엇인가? 이야기란, 고정되어 있지 않은것, 시간과 함께 풍화되는 것들이다.

3. 나는 서울에서 태어나 서울에서 자랐으며 여러도시를 여행하였으며 런던에서 많은 시간을 보내고 다시 서울로 돌아왔다. 내가 태어나서 지금까지 처해진 환경들은 정형화되고 구획화된 곳이였다. 시간역시. 나는 처음에 이를 굉장히 갑갑하게 여겼는데 (약간의 패소공포증과 함께) 시간이 지날수록, 나는 나 자신을 정교하게 재단하여 그속에 집어넣는 것을 즐겼다. 하루가 고단하지 않으면 기분이 안좋다.
